If you are planning using FB you need a server side dev environment and Eclipse IDE it's best on the market.

Try spending little bit more time to get Flash item in the Repository should be easy

The design tab in most application is not working. At least if you will drag and drop components into Design Mode stage it will works fine, but as soon as you will modifying your code especially adding states, dynamic components or using Repeater your "Design" mode stop working.
The best way start learning creating view without drag and dropping visual components.
That is my first question for all Flex candidates for my company - writing in the Notepad/TextPad a Microsoft Outlook application by using mxml containers and components

If you will create a new Project and switch to a Design Mode you will able to drag and drop but as soon as you will modify manually something in the Code View it's not guaranteed you will able to goto back to Design mode :(

Try uninstalling the new application and then reinstall it again.

Worked for me when I upgraded from 4.5 to 4.6. I had the same issue

But did you get a chance installing FB as Eclipse plugin?

I used a design mode for FB 4.1, 4.5 and 4.6.
I am sorry I never opened FB standalone app because I need Java, Python and ANT repositories as well what is not supporting by standalone version

You can find only when you are installing a plugin. Check Adobe documentation

Flash Builder 4.6 supports installation as a plugin to an existing Eclipse instance. To do so:
1.Complete the installation process as described above.
2.Navigate to the installed Flash Builder installation location and open the utilities folder.
 3.Run the executable Adobe Flash Builder 4.6 Plug-in Utility.exe.
4.Select the language and click on OK.
5.Select the Flash Builder installation location if prompted.
6.Select the Eclipse folder into which you want Flash Builder 4.6 to be plugged into and click Next. (Note: Your copy of Eclipse must be version 3.6/3.6.1/3.6.2/3.7, 32-bit and must contain a folder named “dropins”)
7.Review the pre-Installation summary and click on Install
8.Following installation, it is recommended that you edit the eclipse.ini file for your Eclipse instance, so that it includes the following settings:

-vmargs -Xms256m -Xmx512m -XX:MaxPermSize=256m -XX:PermSize=64m

I did that. It all worked fine. But when I tried to create a new project, Flash Item was not present.

Anyways,

I have accepted your response as the solution :)
