Sync iphone Calendar

Hi,

For better or for worse I would like to sync my iphone calendar with my wife's iphone.  My iphone sync's with my work e-mail exchange account and my wife does not sync her calendar with anything.

Is there an app
Does icloud provide for this
Any help would be appreciated

Thanks Jim

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

What email tool are you syncing with?  iPhone syncs with Outlook (Exchange or otherwise), but not Windows Live Mail, for example. .... Thinkpads_User

I do not think that will work. If your wife syncs back to some calendar tool on your home computer (say Outlook) and you sync to that, your Exchange stuff will be lost.

So far as I know, you cannot sync one phone to two different sources. One will override and wipe the other out.

I have two iPhones at home and must take care not to sync to the wrong source. ... Thinkpads_User

Rather than syncing is there a way to send an event?

That may very likely work. She sends an invite to you and you add it to your calendar. Outlook (Exchange or other) will accept invites from multiple sources. But I think to get it into your Outlook Calendar, it would have to be an invite.

I do not send invites from my iPhone, but it should work.  ...  Thinkpads_User

To be clear:  Do you want to have your wife's appointments show up on your phone, or your (Exchange) appointments showing up on her phone, or both?

If you want her appointments to show up on your phone, it's easy; she can sync with Google calendar, for example, and you can create a second calendar on your phone that syncs with the same Google calendar account.  Then, you and your wife can have the same calendar on both phones, though her phone won't show events that are in your Exchange calendar (unless you ALSO put them on your google-based calendar.)   On your phone, you can easily look at just your calendar, just her calendar, or both, because the iPhone calendar app allows you to select which calendar(s) you want to see at any given time.

Just make sure that before you sync with ANY cloud-based calendar for the first time, you have backed up your calendar (and her calendar), so that, if you make a mistake and sync in the wrong direction, you won't wipe out your phone's calendar with the initially-empty cloud calendar.
