Network bandwith tool

I am looking for a free network bandwith tool. I am trying to find out which computers on our network are using the most bandwith.

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hello,

You can monitor traffic into several ways. One of the popular software is Cacti.Cacti is open source and there is windows version too.You can see graph. But the problem is you have to configure SNMP into each device individually. And it is only monitoring software. You can't control bandwidth by Cacti.
http://forums.cacti.net/viewtopic.php?t=14946

Are you using Linux machine as gateway/router ?Then you could use 'iptraf' to monitor traffic and connection and you have to set a standard script for controlling traffic.Check the following link for iptraf:
http://iptraf.seul.org/download.html

If you use Cisco Switch then you can restrict bandwidth into switchport and monitor bandwidth by Cacti.

If you use Windows XP as gateway then you could monitor bandwidth by Cacto and could use Traffic shaper freeware for Controlling traffic. But it is very limited.

But I'd suggest you to use Mikrotik Routerboard  as gateway/router for several reasons:

Cheap and reliable,BW Manage and monitoring,Firewall,Routing feature,Graph Management,Hotspot, traffic monitoring,Easy access  from anywhere and so many.
