poweredge sc1430 raid controller bad or something else?

Hi Folks,
Over the weekend our mail backup server went bad.  Turns out it might be the raid controller, it picked up drives 0 and 2 as failed and drive 1 and working but i swapped the drives around and checked in configuration and the drive 0 was swapped with 1 and it showed as working.  When I had reconnected the drives properly it shows drive 0 and 2 as missing and drive 1 as online and working fine.  My powers of deduction has basically set it at being a bad raid controller but I feel it might be something else.  I'm wondering if there are better ways to troubleshoot the controller or if anyone has had experience in this matter to know if it is the controller before i buy a new one.

Colleague decided she would order a 400 dollar new controller before we could fully run tests. Thanks for the help though.
