Cisco 881-W configuration

I have a Cisco 881-W connected to a Windows XP laptop through the COM port. I can see the router booting up on the console and it eventually gets to:
"Press RETURN to get started!"
Once I press return, I get:
Authorized access only!
Disconnect IMMEDIATELY if you are not an authorized user!
User Access Verification

The problem is, I can't get logged in. I have never configured this router and don't believe anyone else has. We purchased it from

I have tried all the usual default username/password combos. Any ideas how to get into this router to configure it?

Try using the break sequence during boot up to get into ROMMON mode.  Once there, change the config register to 0x2142 and reboot.  This should ignore the config.

Make sure to change this back to 0x2102 once you erase startup-config.

You will have two configurations to fix here.

First the Router...  then the Wireless AP.

To Recover the Password on an 881 Router perform as above:

To Recover the Password on your wireless AP (built in)  perform these commands after getting into the Cisco Router:

service-module wlan-ap 0 reset default-config

and then reset the AP module

service-module wlan-ap 0 reset

Following the password recovery procedure you can get the config as is - IF the device is not configured to wipe on recovery....  In 871/81/91 - they can be programmed to wipe configuration and delete Certificates on recovery.... so if you need this router to do anything as is - careful during password recovery as you may end up wiping whole configuration.
