JMS read queue history

I hear you can use JMS api to read the the history of a queue, i.e. how many messages went in at certain time, how many went out, etc.  But I don't see that in the documentation.

any one knows about this?

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I don't think it is in the JMS standard but most JMS providers have extra functions that can give more info. Are you keen on keeping your application vendor-neutral or are you happy to use vendor specific stuff? If so, what vendor/provider are you using?

how about non-destructive browsing? another words, read out the content but leave the message in the queue for the real consumer?

Yep, that is there. Check out the javadocs for QueueBrowser
