I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You would just use the rules wizard in Outlook.

Should help you out.

I would say using the server side option could well be the best as they work even when Outlook isn't running which I would guess you'd want.

Whether a rule runs on the client or server is not an explicit setting. It
depends totally on the conditions and actions you choose for the rule. Some
of the conditions that will force a rule to execute only on the client are
listed at http://www.slipstick.com/rules/serverbased.htm. You'll want to
avoid those.

Once you set your conditions appropriately, on the actions list you should
see "have server reply using a specific message." Select that action, then
click the underlined text to create the message you want to appear in the
reply.

There is an exchange global setting to allow auto replies externally that has to be enabled before this will work.

One other thing to be weary of is that this opens you up to mail loop issues.  If the mailbox you auto respond to also has an auto response set to reply, it can cause huge issues.
