Outlook 2010 not receiving e-mails

I have just installed Microsoft outlook 2010 professional and have configured Outlook to use POP3 and SMTP to send and receive e-mails.
The "Test accounts Settings" function indicates that send and receive is working ok but when i snd an e-mail to the account I do not see it as a received e-mail ?
This is the same when the e-mail has been sent externally.
Outlook 2010 sends e-mails without any problems.
The mail account has been validated by using Outlook 2000 on another PC and so the question is how can I get Outlook 2010 to receive e-mails ?
Are there any log files that I can look at to diagnose the problem. or alternatively will Outlook 2000 work on the PC which is running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.

Normally if you can send, you can also receive. New in Outlook 2010 is the feature that it sets up a new PST file for each new email account. This can be changed, but a new PST file for each account is the default.

So do you have more than one email account and then is email going somewhere else (that is, to a different Inbox)?
