Firefox screen flashing

After upgrading to Firefox 9 I find that there is a problem using it with Gmail. When I am typing a Gmail message, and I hit the back space repeatedly the whole Browser window goes white and hangs for about 5 seconds. This does not happen in Chrome or Internet Explorer.

This is a problem because I use a spell check program called As U Type. To make a correction it backs up and retypes the word. but Firefox screws this process up.

I am using a Windows 7 64 bit machine with several monitors.

Does this happen on any other sites?  Are you using the "new look"  for gmail, and have you tried the HTML only for Gmail?

Okay, so I tried Firefox with addons and the problem went away. Now I need to figure out which add on is causing the problem. Any suggestions as to how I can move there quickly as I have lots of addons

My suggestion would be keep the well known add-ons like java and flash, then divide the remaining group into 2 groups.  Disable group 1.  If the problem doesn't go away, enable them and try group 2.  Once you get it to stop , divide that group into 2 and do the same thing.  You can quickly narrow it down.

Hello,

It is hard to say what to keep and what to remove.

But, I will give to you  recommendation what will be useful to keep and what to remove.

You don't need all of these:

    * Java Console 6.0.15
    * Java Console 6.0.16
    * Java Console 6.0.17
    * Java Console 6.0.18
    * Java Console 6.0.20

You only need the new version and it is a   * Java Console 6.0.20. It was installed together with plug-ins:

    * Java Deployment Toolkit 6.0.200.2
    * Java(TM) Platform SE 6 U20

And it will be good to keep:

    * 2007 Microsoft Office system
    * Adobe Acrobat
    * Java Deployment Toolkit 6.0.200.2
    * Java(TM) Platform SE 6 U20
    * Mozilla Default Plug-in
    * QuickTime Plug-in 7.6.6
    * Shockwave Flash
    * Shockwave for Director
    * Silverlight Plug-In
    * VLC Multimedia Plug-in
