I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Is there no XP driver there at all? - Any XP driver will do - it does not have to be Media Edition Specifically

... if not you could try the SIGMATEL driver for the 420 - http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/04

support.dell.com doesn't have drivers for this system anymore, so i had to find it elsewhere.  here:
http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/04/DriverDetails/DriverFileFormats?c=us&l=en&s=bsd&cs=04&DriverId=R182475
the driver is for the Optiplex 740, but the installer works for other systems--and according to one comment, will work on the 410.  try it...

Can you open the CPU Case and identify the Sound Chip and provide me the Characters written on the Sound Chip for which we can search on internet to find the correct Driver.
