PHP Coding. How to put an put a horizontal Advertisement band in a paid for wordpress theme

I have brought a theme... the blocco. And i want to add a 427 x 60 adsense advert to the top and bottom of my site.

I have posted on the forum to the group about how to do this and i got a responce back saying thats not what the theme was designed for and it will cost you to customise this. Well, as i pay to be a member here, I thought i would ask for help and DIY!

As its php. i have limited knowledge - I think from my very limited knowledge the best way to do this it to add a "link" in the Header file to the my php file with HTML in that has the adsense code in?

Would this be the best way to do this?

Most premium themes recognize the need for the customer to run advertising and build support for AdSense into the theme.  If this theme doesn't have any of those hooks present in the header or footer there two things you can do.

The first you mentioned already: edit the theme's header and footer.php files and ad the banner code there.

The second is to search for and use a plugin that manages ads, like this one:
