"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You can use the merge and centre to make a pile of cells into a single cell though not good for calculations.  You can expand a cell to the size you want and turn on the wrapping option.  You can also hit CTRL+Enter to goto a new line.

Though it will at times look a little messy.

Above way does not work. If I press Contrl+Enter it comes to start of the cell. It overwrites whatever I type.
To go to a new line in a field, hit alt-enter.
