Exchange 2007 Database Restore
Hi,
I'm trying to restore our Exchange 2007 database from 2009 to search a users mailbox that is no longer with the company. We use BackupExec and the restore is successful. My mailbox comes back fine but I cannot find the mailbox for this user. This user is not in Active Directory anymore and other users who are no longer with them company but were when the backup was take also do not show up. When the backup was take it was in a Windows 2003 domain and now in a Windows 2008 domain.
Please HELP!

I would suggest creating a recovery server in an isolated environment and try restoring AD data when the user account existed and also restore the exchange database and then export the mailbox contents to PST

Do you know where I can find good instructions for creating a recovery group?
Create a dummy user and mailbox.
Restore the required mailbox in the dummy user or restore to a foldder in dummy user mailbox.
check this.
