Best Way To Get iTunes Data on New Drive

Hello Experts,

I'm helping a friend with his system which drive crashed.  I bought a new drive and installed Windows 7 from scratch.  Lucking he did have a backup of his old drive which ran Windows Vista.  I've been able to transfer all of his files with no issue but my question is in regards to iTunes.  Is it possible to restore on this new drive?  I basically have a mirror of his old drive which means I have everything but not sure the best way to deal with iTunes so he won't lose anything.  Thanks.

1. Just install iTunes on the new computer like any software.. www.itunes.com
2. Then copy all his itunes music from his old drive to his new drive and place the songs in the My Music folder of his new drive.
3. then Start itunes, and have it search for songs to put them back in his itunes library..

it should work fine.

Great.  And when plugging in the iphone or itouch do I need to watch out for anything?  Want to make sure nothing on phone gets erased.

Yeah.. normally they are in the My Music folder of the user's files..

Depending on which version of windows you are copying the data from..

Windows XP,  c:\documents and settings\nameofuser\my documents\my music\itunes
Windows Vista/Win7; c:\users\nameofuser\my music\itunes\

Once you install itunes on the new drive,.. it will create this folder, and all you have to do is copy all the files from the old c:\users\nameofuser\my music\itunes folder to the new drive.
