Outlook 2010 keeps asking me for Gmail login and password

I'm using Outlook 2010 to IMAP with my gmail account.
Recently, it started giving me repeated errors, alternating between "you IMAP server closed the connection due to using too much bandwith", and asking me for my username and password.
I deleted my Outlook profile to start over, but when I try to add that account again, it asks me for my password again and again, and doesn't even finish sending the test email. I double and triple checked, and the login information is correct.
How can I fix this?
Thanks!

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I know that you said you have double and triple checked the login info, but have you tried resetting your password for gmail and then trying the setup again?
