DCDIAG errors

Hello, I am about to migrate from SBS2003 to SBS2011 and would require a clean DC.

Running DCDIAG gives me the following errors. For your info, the replication DC server TERMINAL is out of use already.

Please help, many thanks, Clifford

Is there another DC on your network called TERMINAL?

Alan HardistyCo-OwnerCommented:
If it no longer exists - you will need to tidy up AD by removing the failed DC:

If your organization has a need to mass-create AD user accounts, watch this video to see how its done without the need for scripting or other unnecessary complexities.

yes TERMINAL is another DC, a secondary DC, that I asked to install years ago, just incase the SBS DC failed.

CliffordNgAuthor Commented:
but TERMINAL is today a dead pc, not connected to the network.

Alan HardistyCo-OwnerCommented:
You don't want to connect to the DC that isn't there - connect to OCEANSRV

Commands should be:

ntdsutil
metadata cleanup
connections
connect to oceansrv
q
select operation target
list domains
select domain 0 (probably will only be 0 to choose from)
list sites
Select Site 0
List Servers in site
Select Server x (TERMINAL)
q
remove selected server

come out of metadata cleanup.

Then run it again
Type Connections
Then Type Connect to SERVER OCEANSRV

Then Type Q and press Enter

You should be back to a "metadata cleanup" prompt

Type Select Operation Target
Type List domains

Make a note of the number next to the domain which is yours.  This would normally be 0

Type Select Domain 0 (this is the number zero)
Type Select Site 0 (this is the number zero)

Type List Servers in Site

Make a note of the number next to the failed server.

Type Select Server and then the number from the step above.

It's important the above step is NOT the live server.

Then type Q
And then type "remove selected server" and press enter.

You will now have removed the old server.

You can close a question down without accepting any of your comments by just clicking the Accept Multiple Solutions button and then selecting the comments you want to mark as the answer / assisted answer and then you can split the points however you wish.

The way you are currently doing things takes 4 days for a question to close - not that it is an issue - but it isn't the regular way to close a question.

Either way - glad your issue is resolved and hopefully the migration is now good to go.

Oh well - doing too many things at once whilst being on the phone.  I need a sex-change to be able to multi-task properly apparently :)

@CliffordNg - you might want to review the following MS guide for your Time issue
