"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Upgrading firmware on a Storage Array is always a "do or die" event.

** We always have the tech come in to do this activity.

As in most cases a uniteruptable power source is recommended to ensure that power is not lost during the firmware upgrade.
We have never had a problem, but it aways scares us.  I have bricked some things in the past and don't take any chances anymore.
