Adding domain controller 2008 r2.

Good morning and thank you for your help.

I'm installing a new server 2008 r2 in a 2003 domain. I know that i need to prep the 2003 domain prior to introducing a 2008 box and later run dcpromo as well as transfer the fismo roles.

My question is. Do I join the 2008 box to the domain and then do all the above or will it get joined to the domain during dcpromo?

Many thanks in advance..

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I would join it to the domain first, then run DCPROMO (after prepping the schema on the 2003 server).
