How do I load a video converter program on Blackberry PlayBook?
I would like to view mp4 video files on the Blackberry PlayBook. There appear to be on the market a number of programs that address this issue. For example: http://www.any-video-converter.com/tablet-pc-video-converter/blackberry-playbook-video-converter.php
My challenge begins with the fact that these programs are sold as Windows executables (.exe) and need to be executed in a Windows environment. So far so good. Then I understand I need to use BlackBerry Desktop to install an application program from my Win 7 PC to the PlayBook.
My issue / problem is that I have not been able to work out how to install the application onto the PlayBook, which does not appear to have a visible directory structure.

The Covert Videos app to which you refer is posted on the Blackberry smartphone AppWorld site ... but not for the Blackberry PlayBook, which runs on QNX operating system and has its own AppWorld.
It is not clear to me why Windows apps cannot be installed on my PlayBook (albeit indirectly via Blackberry Desktop Software) and what I am trying to find out is how to use Desktop Software to install a video converter program on my PlayBook. The reason is that I receive daily written reports that contain about 3 minutes of video in mp4 format that on my Windows laptop is run with Quicktime. I want to veiw these reports on my PlayBook, which always travels with me.

the convert apps need windows (or MAC OSX) to run the app and convert the video file to MP4 format (i use imTOO's one, as the mp4 format is handy for ipad's too and it uses multi-core and GPU ability during conversions). converters need a lot of processing power and memory, so they are not designed to run on mobile/handheld platforms.
I then dock the playbook by USB and copy the mp4 files over to the video folder and then disconnect. open the video folder on the PB and your files should be visible.

Surprised I had not thought of this myself, as I do use a Blackberry 9900 and my PlayBook is bridged to the 9900. Thank you very much! 500 points well deserved.
check the url below for an app from app world which claims to convert the movie. you may install this onto your playbook as well.

gud luck. windows executables cannot be installed on to your playbook directly and you require compatible applications.
