Lync 2010 Edge Server deployment
We would like to deploy and Edge server to provide IM federation with AOL, MSN, Yahoo and Gmail. There is no requirement for Web Conferencing or AV. None of our users will be accessing our lync infrastructure from the outside for IM. This would only support communication with the public IMs.
What are the minimum requirements as far as URL's? As per Microsoft documentation, we would need an SRV record for federation, an Access.myexternaldomain.co m, webcon.myexternaldomain.co m and AV.myexternaldomain.com. Do we need those three in order to get this set up?

If all you want is federation then simply the federation SRV record should be sufficient.

So from what you're saying is we don't need the additional URLs in our external DNZ servers? All we need to do is create an SRV record which will point to our SIP host a record, access.myexternaldomain.co m?
Should be, yes.

We will test it out. Also, do you know if there is anything additional needed to configure in regards to having it integrated with Exchange? Or is it as simiple as adding users with mailboxes to the lync and installing the client along with outlook?
