Cannot Uninstall V C++ 2005 Runtime in order to Upgrade Backup Exec
Hello.
I am attempting to upgrade a Windows 2003 server from Backup Exec 12.5 to Backup Exec 2010 R3.
I run into this error during the installation when BE is trying to install Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable:
"FATAL ERROR: Error 1714.The older version of Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group"
When I attempt to manually uninstall this in control panel, I'm asked to find an msi. This particular MSI is no longer on the server.
I cannot reinstall it from Microsoft's server or from the BE DVD because of the same error (the MSI cannot be found). T
Two questions -
1. Should I continue to attempt to uninstall Visual C++ manually either through control panel or through a registry hack?
2. OR is there a way to reinstall VC++ run time to point to a new MSI that can be found?
Thanks!

That did the trick! Awesome tip thank you so much!
There is also a link to SP1 on the page as well. It could be that you are running an unpatched version of 2005 runtime.
