Issue with multihome setup Server 2008 R2 using two NIC's
I hope someone can help with this cause it is driving me crazy.
I have a server Using Windows 2008 R2 with both NIC's enabled. The reason is I need IP assignments for data side and assignments for VOIP side. I have it configured as follows:
Nic 1 for data:
IP: 172.16.0.30 range
Sub: 255.255.0.0
Gate: 172.16.0.10
DNS: 127.0.0.1
DNS 2: 172.16.0.31 (for second domain controller - which does no DHCP)
Nic 2 for VOIP:
IP: 172.17.0.32
Sub: 255.255.0.0
Gate: Nothing entered
DNS1 and 2: Nothing entered
The issue is that I can go on a server and ping the primary DNS server and it kicks out the VOIP IP - 172.17.0.32 and I want it to do the data. I have already check the properties on that NIC and unchecked it from listing in DNS, but it still manages to find it way in there. Everything runs great when I delete it, but when it shows up things slow down and take forever to process.
Is there anything I can do so this does not show up in DNS? I have tried removing it from DNS, but it continues to come back.
Any help is appreciated. Let me know if further info is needed.
