Save pdf as tif file

I have some multi-page pdfs that I need to save as a multipage tif file. I have the full product of Acrobat. The issue is that when I save the pdf as a tif it creates one tif file for wach of the pages in the pdf document. I need one tif file with all of the pages included in that one tif file. I am not lookinf for any thir party software of spending more money. I would like to do this with any microsoft office stuff or the full version of acrobat that I have. Maybe via some vb script or something. Any help would be great.

Any other suggestions
What version of Acrobat are you using?

I don't have Acrobat, but most full PDF products that offer PDF to TIFF conversion allow you to specify the type of TIFF. My guess is that Acrobat offers this, but it's just a guess. What you're looking for in the output file type is "multi-page TIFF" or something similarly named. Here's an example of the output file types (in the Save As dialog) from a product that I use:

Notice the numerous "multi-page" TIFF types. If you come back and say that Acrobat doesn't have this capability, we'll take the next step. Regards, Joe
Also, tiffs are image files. What you're asking for is like saying you want to see 10 pictures all in one file ... which is more a video than a picture. Does that make sense?

I suggest a work around for what you need, such as putting the tiffs in a zip file.
Also, here's a thread in Adobe Forums that talks about the issue:

@ogctech,
This has nothing to do with pictures. TIFF was the standard for scanning business documents before PDF ever existed. In many high-end imaging systems, TIFF is still the preferred format for scanned documents, not PDF. The author doesn't want a bunch of single-page TIFFs in a zip file – he wants a multi-page TIFF file that contains all of the pages from the source PDF file. Regards, Joe
Thanks Joe for the clarification.

I'm in Adobe Acrobat X Pro, and I do not see the option to convert a PDF to a multi-page TIFF file. Only the default option, which only spawns single-page TIFF files. I believe the author wants this to be an easy, automated option in Acrobat, I just do not believe that this exists.

Joe,
Have you looked into changing the settings on the scanner to scan to TIFF instead of PDF. This option does exist on some scanners. This would work just like the scan to PDF function. It will also create multi-page documents.

Or you could go with the suggestion above:
http://www.pdf-to-tiff-converter.com/

This seems to work well for the PDF's that you currently have to convert over.

Di,
Thanks for the info. It's a shame that Acrobat does not support multi-page TIFF.

TomTom,
Since you said an MS Office tool would be OK for you, here's how to do it. MS Office 2003 and 2007 install a print driver called Microsoft Office Document Image Writer. Just open up the PDF in Acrobat and print to the MODI Writer. That's it! It creates a multi-page TIFF. You can control the resolution by clicking Properties>Advanced when you print and selecting Standard (100 DPI), Fine (200 DPI), or Super Fine (300 DPI).

In our other question of yours ("Windows Fax and Scan Setup and DPI"), you said that you would try to get your hands on Office 2007 and install MODI according to:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/982760

You'll need to do this for this suggestion to work. Regards, Joe
@mjyga1,
Yes, many scanners and their scanning software allow direct scanning to TIFF. But what TomTom wants is to create a multi-page TIFF file from a multi-page PDF file that already exists (not via scanning). So, yes, a PDF-to-TIFF converter will do the job, but TomTom said that he is not looking for any other third-party software – he wants to be able to do it with Adobe Acrobat and/or Microsoft Office. Regards, Joe
Yeah I tried that route, but we are using Windows 7 64 bit and M$ removed the MODI option. That is how we were doing it before. Also we have scansnaps and they do not support twain or wia driver so we cannot scan to tif.
Yep, I got all that from your "Windows Fax and Scan Setup and DPI" question. To be clear, MS did *not* remove the MODI programs from W7/64-bit. I have Office 2007 on a W7/64-bit system and MODI is there under Programs>Microsoft Office>Microsoft Office Tools. But the MODI Writer (print driver) is *not* present in W7/64-bit, probably because MS decided to go with the XPS Document Writer (print driver) in W7. However, here's how to install the MODI Writer in W7/64-bit:
http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/isv/thread/f3cf6478-d6c8-42dd-97b3-bc54d30719d2/

Once you have the MODI Writer installed, open up the multi-page PDF in Acrobat and just print to the MODI Writer (printer), which will create the multi-page TIFF. You may set the resolution (100, 200, or 300 DPI) as I described above.

I realize you're trying to do this just with Adobe and MS software, but if you're willing to consider third-party apps, there are FREE ones out there that will convert PDF to multi-page TIFF. Regards, Joe
