how can I send emails in HTML so they can read them as HTML.

Try the below:

    Select Tools | Account Settings... from the menu.
             Click OK.

yes the first thing I did was to check this but it was pre-ticked

Also check the settings in:

Tools -> Options -> Composition -> Send Options -> Text Format

plain text, can I confirm I do want to send html only..  thanks  tried all of these no luck

any more ideas?  I really need to be able to send customers html emails and I am not used to thunderbird but this is what we are now using/

update,  if i create message and click insert, then html then a box pops up I can paste my html code in that and click ok and it auto converts it for the email but I need to just be able to paste the html right in.. as I send hundreds out each day

hi thanks for link I read that yesterday, I am able to open my new message, click inset html and little box opens then i paste html code in this and click ok, then it send the html to the message already converted to text all pre-done.  for exmaple if I type in the html box <i>hi</i> then after I click done the message body would already show the italic hi.

my issue is I was wanting to just paste html code right into the body and click send.
the reason being is I have a program on my desktop that auto opens the email on a sale and then auto inserts the html code into the body of the email.
I do this alot, and would take ages keep copying the text from the body, then deleteing then clicking html then pasting then clicking go then send.
