Some email messages from one sender are delayed and arrive together in Godaddy POP3 mailbox

Our office has multiple pop3 mailboxes hosted at Godaddy. We view our mail through the Godaddy WebMail interface. Some of the messages sent from one particular sending domain to any recipient at our domain arrive with a delay of up to 24 hours.  When the late messages arrive, something causes them to queue up before they get to the receiving Godaddy mail server and arrive together.

Not all of the messages from this one sending domain are delayed. Some arrive normally to our mailboxes in one or two minutes.  The messages which are delayed are only delayed to recipients at our domain. Other recipients copied on the delayed messages receive the messages normally.

Example:
Three messages from the sending email server, one sent at 1pm, one sent at 4pm, and one sent at 7pm will all arrive the next day at 9:02am. [Receive times appear random but, messages are grouped together at the same time.] Recipients at other domains, get the messages in a timely manner.

I’m trying to identify the correct questions to ask to resolve this issue. This is the info I’d like to know about the senders email server/setup. Any input would be appreciated. [I'm asking the sender these questions, not you on EE, If you can suggest any additional questions, please do.

-      1. Who is your ISP.
-      2. Is your Exchange Server On-Site?
-      3. What type of email accounts do you use with your Exchange Server? Pop3, Exchange Mailboxes, IMAP?
-      What version of Exchange Server does you use.
-      If you use pop3 mail boxes, what version of the MS-Exchange POP 3 connector do you use?

Nenadic,

Thank you for your reply! I have checked with the sender and:

- I've been told that there are no rules on the senders email server about messages destined for our domain. Many of the messages sent from the sending domain, perhaps 50% or more do arrive in a timely manner.
- The arrival times of the delayed messages is random. and is never the same, or even close. The clue is that the messages queue up and arrive together.
 - I like your suggestion to examine the Exchange Tracking logs. I don't think I will have access or assistance to do so though.
 - Your suggestion would translate to: "Some of the messages destined for our domain are delayed by an exchange server rule which references our domain." but, the issue only happens for some of the messages.

Thanks - DosManix
