type of lock the query is using

Dear all,

if we have a query, we would like to konw what kind of lock it will use when executing.

Any tools (SQL profiler) you guy will use to tell?

Depending on the SQL version you use you could find that via Activity Monitor with more (in sql 2008) or less (sql 2000) detail however...
you can use sp_who2 stored proc to find the SPID running your query then use SP_LOCKS to find the locks

If you use SQL 2005 or 2008 another way would be to use SQL own Performance Dashboards reports that will give you lot more than just the locks and I recommend it:

who2  doens't tell what kind of lock it is, any example about that?

Activity Monitor don't show this.
