Adding a A host name

I have a host name of intranet.autoparts.local which directs to our intranet web server. How do I set this up so that if http://intranet is typed in it directs to the web server?

Create a New A record in your DNS server forward lookup zone with the Name Intranet and assign the ip address of the web server to thi new A record
