Hello, I have one logical AD site containing two domain servers not connected by a physical LAN but over a WAN. I know the basic microsoft rules for intra site, but what issues could be caused by sticking two domain servers that both communicate over a WAN?
The reason why I ask is because we can't split this up into two sites since it is one physical site and the red tape would be rediculous, but there are two TCFs at this one site that communicate with eachother over a WAN even though they are just a walk away.
They are on different subnets so user authentication would be local, but replication would assume each DC is on a high speed WAN and try and replicate within 15 seconds and 3 seconds thereafter if I remember correctly. The WAN pipe is large enough to handle it at 8 meg, just the only difference I see is no schedules being made.
Any other gotchas or caveats to doing this in the short term?
