asked on

VBScript or batch process for deleting a shortcut from the Windows 7 Public\Desktop folder

This is kind of a tuff nut.

I have an application that creates a Desktop shortcut on our pcs.
I have been asked to remove it, via some sort of script.
VBScript or Batch.

It's not an issue (to delete the shortcut) with the XP desktops.

But as for Windows 7 and Vista, well, I can't seem to figure out how to access the shortcut inside of the Public\Desktop folder.
Either by VBScript or with a batch file.
So that I might delete it.
(Although I can delete it manually.)

If I start a command prompt.
Then use DOS commands, I can't even "see" the public desktop folder.
(Although I CAN see it in Explorer).

Has anyone been able to delete a short from the public\desktop folder via a script ?

I would be very interested in hearing how you did it.
