What kind of software the user is looking forward to, does he knows hindi typing or just want to type english sounding like hindi so that it can be typed in hindi.

like google does here:

http://www.google.com/transliterate

If you type hindi souding words in english it will convert it in hindi

like

kya haal hai to ¿¿¿¿ ¿¿¿ ¿¿

I tested it in windows 7 x64 and once I went into compatability settings and set it to xp sp3 it worked fine in notepad/wordpad, first it was a red symbol in the tray and I toggled it to green and all typing showed in hindi.  BTW uncheck the 'toolbar' that the cnet installer wants to install.
