We are currently running sharepoint 2010 and are provisioning sites and libraries using active directory security groups. These groups are configured as global security groups. Everything right now is working correctly and as expected.

Recently a request came up that several of the groups need to be changed to a universal security group in order to add members of a child domain to grant them access to these sites and libraries.

I do not believe this should be an issue but where we have never used a universal security group to grant access to a sharepoint site I want to make sure there arent any issues or problems with switching the existing global groups to universal groups.

My instincts tell me that this should all work without issue but Id rather ask before making a change that could affect our users sharepoint access.
