Excel question

How do I ask this question? I have very little expertise with Excel. I want to have headings down the left side of the sheet where the rows have names. Similar to what I usually see at the top where the columns have names, I want the rows to have names so that when I put something in Column A, Row 1 is names Time of day and COlumn A is named Trade 1 and Row 2 is named Area from MP and Column B is named Trade 2 and Row 3 is named Globex hi/low. The idea being the columns are individual trades and the rows are the various data points I looked at while making and managing that trade.  So, trade 1 is represented in Column A and all it's varous data points are listed in the rows and those rows have names like Time of Day, Area from MP, Globex hi/low, etc.... How do I set row names and then freeze them like i do on the top?

Select cell B2 and then Freeze panes
In Excel 2007/2010, if you want to freeze the view so that when you scroll left/right, the column remains in view, simply click the view tab in the ribbon bar and select "Freeze Panes", "Freeze First Column".

Just make sure your cursor is located one column to the right of the column you want to "Freeze".

Office 2007 Excel.

How do I freeze both the first row AND the first column? Seems to only let me freeze one or the other..
Click on cell B2 and click the View tab. Select "Freeze", "Freeze Panes" to freeze both rows and columns.
