I have a laserjet 4200 and throughout the day it has a paper jam, in the event log it is
13.01.00 PAPER FEED 1. PAPER LATE JAM
and the pape is always under the toner cartridge, it doesn't make it to the fuser.
I googled this and the most common fix seems to be replacing the pre feed sensor, which came as an assembly with rollers ( i'm pretty sure the part number is RM1-0012-020CN ). which i did, but it is still having the problem.
this is the first time i replaced this roller on this model ( i was much more familiar with the laserjet 4000 - there were a few slight differences ) and i'm debating whether it could be my lack of experience, or a bad part.
the thing is, the printer can print a LARGE stack of paper without a hitch and then out of the blue it will jam.
i have noticed that it prints fine, but the pace of the paper slows, and it keeps printing, but it does seem to jam when it slows down. i'm not sure why it slows down. i have heard that a printer will slow to cool off the fuser, but have never seen it in practice, and it slows down often, so i find it hard to believe that it keeps needing to cool off.
any suggestions as to what is wrong?
