I have been using Outlook 2007 to manage my GMAIL using IMAP.  After doing this for almost a year I realize that my gmail account keeps growing in space used.

I have figured out that when I delete a message from my Inbox that it isn't actually deleted.  It seems to just be removed from the inbox.  Can anyone tell me how to actually delete from "inside" outlook?

I have already tried Edit -> Purge...  It seems as though when you delete within outlook the communication it sends back to GMAIL is to just remove from the inbox and not delete.  I want to at least make it move to a folder in which I can delete from on the GMAIL side.  Now I just have a bunch of messages that are not in any GMAIL folder that I don't know what to do with.

I hope this makes sense.  Thanks.
