Server recommendation
I have a client who has 7 workstations and is presently using one of them as a Server on a Windows 7 Home Premium OS. They are looking for a server at the most possible cheap price and I needed some assistance with this as well. Also, would this include the license for the OS and anti-virus for both the OS and the remaining pc's?
The Dell ml110 is a fantastic server. I have installed 3 of them in the past 12months for small businesses. It can take up to 16GB (i think) and has numerous hdd drive bays.
I have deployed SBS2008 / SBS2011 Standard on it. It really works best with at least 8GB RAM (memory really cheap these days).
In terms of AV, I have installed GData which is very, very, easy to deploy centrally from the server. It is reasonably priced, but admitedly, not the best AV product on the market. However, it is very smart at not using tonnes of pc resources when running.
A really flexible entry server at little money for the purpose you describe.
Hope this is of some help,

Did you mean the HP ML110? Can you provide a link, please.

when I purchase such a server, will it come with the OS such as Windows SBS 2008 or Server 2008? Are there any more gotchas on this purchase?
You can request for sbs2011 which will come with it.
By default, it comes with 5 client access licenses (cal) meaning you'll need an additional cal for each further user. Or, you can purchase cal per computer. Your preference.

That being said, perhaps you can simply utilize a Windows 7 Professional machine with a larger hard drive. It should be relatively low-cost, and you should really avoid using the Home Premium version of Windows in a business-oriented environment.
