Windows 7 Enterprise/ Workstation x86 Network Shutdown Script?
Hi.
I used the command 'netdom query workstation' to discover all the workstations active on the domain. I chose one workstation still active and entered it's machine name as discovered by the netdom query output as x100-WS01-YU0
I then ran CMD in administrator mode and entered this:
shutdown /m \\x100-WS01-YU0 /f /s
I'm encountering an error message: The entered computer name is not valid or remote shutdown is not supported on the target computer. Check the name and then try again or contact your system administrator.(53)
What am I missing in the script?

May be user is logged in as the local administrator which denies the shutdown command or the PC itself is removed from the network. Try pinging the machine by name and verify.

The machine isn't logged in. I can't ping the computer, however I can remote into it. The problem is that there's too many active computers to remote into, hence the need for a script.
