Xerox 8560MFP - System Error 07.009.42:12888

Hi All,

I'm having a problem with my 8560. It warms up to 16%, then give Xerox System Error 01.009.42:12888.

It has less than 10k pages printed. I have cleaned the printer, and everything seems to be mechanically sound.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Does the printer have any memory upgrades or add-on parts that can be removed or detached so you can take it down to a minimum config so you can test just the base printer?

Your printer actually has 12888 pages on the clock.

Xerox keep the meaning of their error messages well hidden, but an 01.xxx error should be something pretty drastic, and is most likely to require a technician. Down here in Australia Xerox phone support is pretty good, and they will tell you what causes the error and how much it will cost to repair. I would give them a call.

Judging by the number of pages printed, your printer may still be under warranty, in which case Xerox will fix it free.

If your printer is networked, it can actually communicate with Xerox support knowledge base directly, and troubleshoot itself with their Automated Remote Diagnostic Tool:

Both of your proposals would work if the printer powered up. As it only gets to 16%, it is nowhere near ready to communicate with anyone; not over the network, nor via the front panel.

Sorry for the delay. The error code in the title is correct (07).

Unfortunately, the printer is not under warranty. It only came with a one year warranty, and it is outside that.

Xerox offered to send a tech out @ $150 /hr, minimum two hours. If a part is needed, it is extra. For that price, I can replace the printer.

eeRoot: It is already at minimum config.

Try removing and putting back in place, all the usally removed rollers/parts for maintainance.
You may get lucky and trip a reset that will allow it to power up to 100%
