Did you remove the failed DC from the domain first and is the 2003 remaining one running in native mode (e.g. 2003 AD mode)

Hello,
i think I found the probleme.... The schema master roles was on the other DC that crash :(
How can I transfer that roles? with ntdsutil.exe maybe ?
Also if I remove the DC ( server that crash ) from AD will it change all the roles to the other DC ? How can I remove a failed DC from the domain?
