Need to disable/uninstall DAG on Exchange 2010

Last Modified: 2012-02-10

I have a DAG set up in Exchange 2010 that I must disable and/or uninstall.  I do not want to fix or leave the DAG in place at this point in time.  I am confident that it was built to a standard MS spec because I had an experienced consultant build it.  However it looks like I will need to remove the DAG component and I have no experience with this yet. This is a production environment and because it is critical that I do no harm, I am checking here first.

What I am looking for are the overall steps - a broad outline - of how to diable and/or uninstall.  I can disable the DAG if you are confident that there are steps I can take to tell the DAG "never ever fail over no matter what".  If that is not possible, I must uninstall and completely remove DAG functionality, for now...

With that said, I am running Exchange 2010 SP2 on Exchange 2008 R2 servers.  I have two local and two remote in another site.  The database copies have been deleted but I need to go to the next steps now.  Please indicate if I should expect down time.
Your input is appreciated.  Thanks!
