: Inside the Widows control panel, when I open the Java Control Panel, Advanced tab, Settings, Default Java for browsers, Microsoft Internet Explorer checkbox is selected, but grayed-out (disabled). However, this may be because there are no other browsers checked and one has to be the default. When I checked my laptop, it is also has this checkbox on, but grey-out and the java works fine on Internet Explorer on the laptop.
