Hi,
I was wondering if there is any software or way to view if the raid5 configuration on our windows 2008 server is configured properly without having to go into the bios?  On our dell servers we use dell openmanage to do this but we have a new server for a client in overseas which someone else set up so i dont even know what make and model the server is so if its not a dell is there a way to view the raid5 with something similar to openmanage?  thanks

There are utilities you can install to manage the RAID controller for most controllers. You just need to find out what hardware you have then visit the homepage of the Server manufacturer and download and install those tools, or if there is a CD or DVD that came with it, insert that and check whether there are any such tools included there. It really isn't much different to DELL...

So is there a way to see what make and model the server is by using windows 2008 and not using a 3rd party software.  Is it in device manager as you mentioned?
