When I set up a Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync account to a Exchange 2010 server or to a Exchange 2007 server it works perfectly

But I do not succed to setup a Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync accoutn to a Exchange 2003 SP2 server. It is normal ? How to make it work ?
The Exchange 2003 server is accessible through OWA via
http://mail.company.com/exchange

If the Exchange 2003 server is configured properly, then it should work fine, but if not, then you will have problems.

If you have access to configure the server, please use my guide as a reference:

Using an iPhone via HTTP is not at all recommended.  If you want - use my guide but where it suggests using SSL enabled, just disable SSL, but your passwords will be sent in plain text and your server could be easily compromised.

I am trying to follow your guide but it seems to me that I have no certificate at all,

I know it is NOT recommended at all but should it works ?

OWA works through http but not through https, should it be a problem to make Iphone or ANdroid work?

Thank you again

It should work just fine if port 80 is open and forwarded to the Exchange server, which it must be if Webmail works.

$30 would secure the server happily.

Check the IIS settings in my article and ignore the SSL settings.  If you change anything run iisreset and then try again.  You can download the test app mentioned in my article to test with http (Access My LAN).

should it work without any certificate and without securing the server with $30 ?

(because the test application https://testexchangeconnectivity.com) do not pass and talks about certificate not OK)

Yes - it will work without a certificate, but the test site can't work without a certificate, which is why I advised you to use the Access My LAN application to test with because that does work without an SSL certificate.

so, if I understood well Iphone and Android ActiveSync CAN work fine without any certificate on exchange server and without SSL and 443 port open on firewall (and just with port 80 open on firewall for OWA)

am I OK ?

Correct.  It will work with port 80 alone (with SSL you need port 443 open).

I will repeat that the risks of doing so are great and isn't in the least bit recommended.

You can install your own certificate authority and generate your own certificate for free, so if money is an issue, this is the better route to go down.

No money is not an issue at all but the issue is to install a SSL certificate easily!
and since https://server/exchange does not work  for owa (but http://server/exchange do work) I imagine that installing a certificate authority and generate a certificate wil not be easy. It seems complicated!

Does this happen to be on a galaxy smartphone?

If it is there is a problem with the Active Sync Accoutn Details

When you start to input them it asks for

username = domain\username

When you enter the UserName

Domain\ is automatically populated

Enter the user Name

Then go back and delete domain\

Sync should work then
