I am getting an external hard drive for a laptop. I noticed that a few external hard drives had a rubber looking encloser billed as a way to protect the drive from the shock of dropping it. However I suspect that if you drop it, the shock might be reduced with a rubber case, however, I would guess that the drive would still possibly be damaged from a drop.
