share folder renamed

I have a Windows 2003 server with a share that is accessible to students. One of the folders was renamed to something inappropriate. Is there a way to determine which user renamed the folder?

Unfortunately the system does not keep track of this sort of information. It would require too much on the back end to keep track of more than when it was last modified.

I recommend you adjust the permissions settings to prevent this from occurring. Perhaps create individual directories where each student can store their own information, this way if any inappropriate changes are done, they'll be in that student's own directory and much more easily traceable.

dariusg,

It looks like I already have it enabled, but I don't see where to go to see who changed the folder name.
The audit-information usually goes into the security folder of the eventlog (eventvwr.msc).
You have to go to the Security section in the Event logs.
