IE8 Certificate error
Hi,
My webmail site generates a certificate error. In Firefox I was able to add an exception using a link in the error, and then the error no longer appeared when visiting the site.
However I use a number of different computers. On one computer running Windows XP with IE8, I installed the certificate through the Certificate Error dialogue. It reported it installed successfully, but it still generates an error every time I visit the site.
In IE8 is there a way to add an exception or get IE to ignore the certificate for this site?
Oh, I also added the site to Trusted Sites, but that only resulted in a second error after the certificate error, so I removed it from the Trusted Sites list.

I don't own the website, it belongs to my host. Are either of the solutions you suggested possible in this case? If so, how do I carry that out?

I found the answer. By the way out was not possible to install a self signed certificate.
The problem was not the certificate for the site. The problem was that the shortcut to the webmail site on this particular computer had been created during a logged in webmail session. As a result the shortcut contained a secure session token in it. Cleaning up the short cut eliminated the error.
It was my fault and I'm glad to let you gave the points for the effort.
Thanks.

The only way around this is to buy a valid certificate or add a self signed certificate that has the correct name in it.
