I don't know much about AJAX other than that it's supposed to be good for downloading small bits of information from a server.  I want to update a field in a database on the server every time someone clicks a particular link on a page in their browser.  Or I want to upload the elapsed time between the time when a user clicks link A and then clicks link B.

Is AJAX a good fit to solve these problems?

Thanks for any suggestions.
