I am using VMWare ESXi to host virtual machines that are running Debian squeeze. I am also using the Open-iSCSI package to manage the connections to the iSCSI targets. With this setup, I am bypassing VMWare's 2TB limit for a LUN. Is this a viable solution?
This package worked very much out of the box, save for the startup issue I am having (posted in another question). I have researched the 2TB limitations and the extents/extends method does not sound as enterprise grade as I would prefer for this system. It is an important machine and I want a solid storage solution, but do not want to have any gimmicks due to dynamic and shared storage that may happen with the extents/extends.
