How to call an extension and listen and/or talk on Toshiba digital business telephone without the recipient knowing?
We just got these Toshiba digital business telephones at the company that I work for. I know there is a way to dial an extension without the recipient's phone ringing and they don't have to answer it, but you can dial and it will pick up by default. I think it makes a very, very low pitched tone on the recipient's end to aknowledge the call, but typically the recipient will not hear it because it is so quiet. I don't know what the code is that you type in to be able to do this. We want to take advantage of this feature for security and administrative purposes partly to monitor our associates especially on non-peak hours. Does anyone know the code that needs to be pressed in order to do this? Or is there a certain button or button sequence that needs to be pressed to do this? Thank you.

Depending on your state/country laws, this could be considered as wiretapping, which in the US is a felony (because you don't have permission from anyone participating in the discussion).

Pandora, a waiver was created and every employee read, understood, and signed it. Besides, I don't believe it is wire tapping if you are doing it within your own organization. It's not like I am trying to listen in on someone's cell phone call or home phone call.
