setting up Boot Camp

WebStalkers asked
Last Modified: 2012-02-15
I recently had to delete a Windows 7 installation on boot camp as it was getting screwy.
Im trying to set it up again and get to the partition part and give the new Windows 7  partition 203GB, but part way through I get the message:

"The disk cannot be partitioned because some fles cannot be moved.
Back u the disk and use Disk Utility to format it as a single Mac OS Entended (Journaled) volume. Restore your information to the disk and try using Boot camp Assistant again."

So besides backing up everything on my mac, reformatting and reinstalling, there is another way right?

Im using a Macbook Pro 10.7.3
750GB HD

How did you remove the old Windows installation?  Did you do it through the Boot Camp Assistant?  If not do that as going through the BCA will trash windows AND delete the old partition.  Then you should be able to start fresh.

Yes I deleted it through the boot camp assistant.

I will try that program that noxcho mentioned.

I did use disk utility and everything looks fine there so im a bit puzzled as to why this is happening.  I see the other app mentioned above is $20 but if it works then im all for it.  That is 'IF' it works.  Ill let you know.

I decided to look at repair disk again and NOW it says there is a problem with it.  So I had the machine fix it and now it is in the process of loading windows 7 in boot camp.

I know I looked at this before and it was fine...go figure.

I think I might still get that software noted above as it will allow you to manipulate the partition sizes which will be nice.

Thanks to you both!
