SQL Server Error 10054
We have SQL SERVER 2000 Enterprise Edition with Service Pack 2. It is running on Windows 2003 Server R2 Standard Edition with Service Pack 2.
It runs several databases and Microsoft Dynamics SL Application. The main database is about 80 GB. Recently , the application users have been getting "Sql server Error 10054 - Possible Network error : write to Sql Server Failed. General Network error." . All users on the application get locked or disconnected from the server ; they have to terminate the task , and login again into the application. This error occurs only on those workstations which have logged on to the main database that is 80GB. The users of other databases on same server are not affected. So far, we have already verified that there is no problem with the switch, network card or server. We have replace the network card on the server. DBCC Checkdb returned 0 errors. There is no particular process or application screen that could be identified as a cause of this problem. The error repeats several times in the day.

Thank you for the comments and suggestions. Here are few updates:
Just today we got an error with another small database; so this error is not specific to the 80GB database. I will do a further research on whether any user is running a query or process that is causing time out. There are no good or bad worktions, when error occurs, all workstations loose connection. There is only one instance of sql server, that supports about 10 databases. Only one of them is 80 GB, and rest of them are much smaller. Databases are stored on SAN drive. I do not see any related errors on Windows event log. Enought disk space exists on all drives for database to expand. Recovery mode is simple on all databases.

Replacing Network Switch resolved the problem.
This wouldn't by some chance, be a mis-interpritation of a query timeout? Ignoring the actual error message for half a moment, that is exactly like a query timeout.
Based on that, next steps are to find out if it is in one part of the 80GB database application, or generally within it; have you got your standard database maintenance scheduled regularly?
